When learning something completely new, use active learning.
- If you learn mental skills, use google drive or a piece of paper to write down everything your mind goes through
- When learning markers, draw your markers and links in a form you can revisit and reinterpret after a week
- Always think: how can I use it in my life? How can I use it tomorrow? Do I agree with the author? How can I test this statement? What doest it remind me of?
- Try to find a friend and tell them about your process. Get a feedback. Make a lecture/presentation or write a post, or generate an e-mail. If your friend is a superlearner, he will speedread and ignore.
- Ask for clarifications. Use e-mail, discussions, feedback form. Seek active confrontation/validation: I understand ABC, did I understand correctly?
- Practice active listening. Paraphrase a lot.
- Write simulation. Works well if you are a technical or creative person. Mental experiments are great.
- Take the situation ad-absurdum making your own claims.
Add your own active learning methods. Experiment and write down what works. Activity is a key to retention.
