Focus on one memory technique or use them all

Our program is quite tough. It suggests students to learn in ~8 weeks the learning skills that are meant to change their life.
By putting this hard but not unreachable goal, we ask our students to work smart and hard.
We assume that some students will succeed to master all the required techniques in 8 weeks, but more commonly 12 or even 16 weeks.
Pushing that much content and advanced related content in less than 8 weeks may result in poor adaptation of the new skills.
For example, some of the best students try to learn all memory techniques at once.

KA:

I am studying chartered accountancy (or equivalent to CPA) right now, for which I have to go through vast amount of information and have to remember them thoroughly. This also includes remembering various section numbers of law and tax, on which I will be tested. I have also taken “Magnetic Method Course” by Anthony Metivier on Udemy and “How to Mind Map” course in Udemy.

I am loving the idea of working with the markers. For remembering the numbers/ section numbers, I am using the major number system. Now, how should I incorporate all the markers/ keywords and the section numbers into my memory palaces and mind maps so that I can retain most of the information? What steps of study should I follow to solidify my concepts as well as memory? Should I have to use both mind maps as well as mind palaces for my long term memory retention or should I use any one of them? Now, I want to master the subjects. How should I study?

LG:

Looks like you took a bite at more than you currently can swallow.
You can use all of the methods you mentioned together effectively, but this takes ~2 years of practice.
Instead, I suggest to focus on what is more important and do it perfectly, while using suboptimal solution for other areas.

For example:
Focus on numbers: perfection of major system or PAO with simple story method for everything else
Focus on law: perfection of mindmaps with simple peg method for numbers
Focus on taxation: geography-based mental palaces with peg system for numbers and rooms per law

Eventually, you will be able to dual code PAO/major system for numbers, use mental palaces for geographies and insert mindmaps as tapestries into your mental palaces for laws – however, this will take A LOT of practice.

In all fairness, we expect that you will master all major memory technique with time. But at the beginning you should probably use one most natural FOR YOU visual memory technique, until you perfect it to automatism and are ready to move on to complementary techniques. It does not take 10000 hours to perfect usage of a memory technique, but it can easily take three months. We do provide a large buffet of memory techniques for you to choose from.

Once you have perfected your first memory technique and try to integrate the next technique, your retention speed and quality will initially drop. It takes several weeks till the brain adapts to the secondary technique and regains the original efficiency, and several additional months till you perfect usage of multiple memory techniques. If you try to push too many techniques at once, you will get confused for a while and your brain will find some uneasy compromize instead of adapting more effective way of thinking.

It is not uncommon to see memory champions that feel that one particular technique is sufficient for all their needs and they do not need to adopt additional memorization methods. If you do not feel motivation to learn additional memory methods, nobody will generate this motivation for you. However, if you feel that your main method is struggling with some sort of information you may decide to use a different and more suitable methodology specifically for that information.

What I am trying to say is very simple. Try to perfect using one methodology. Do that for a while. If you feel it is not sufficient, learn some more. Never learn all the methodologies at once.
